About The Author — Tom Baldwin |
My writing career spans over two decades, first as a fledgling reporter and soon as a mildly celebrated feature writer for the Norwich Bulletin and freelance contributor to the Hartford Courant. Later, as a nuclear systems editor and principal developer of an innovative instruction curriculum for the US Nuclear Navy. Eventually, I became a marketing development manager for General Dynamics at the once-famous shipbuilding firm in Quincy, Massachusetts, that built Apollo Tracking ships, nuclear submarines, and, later, innovative surface ships. Freelance credits include Yankee Magazine, Down East, National Fisherman, inclusion in the anthology Yankees Under Sail, white paper warfare scenarios for USN, and several scripts for still-classified technical films. For several years, I published a newsletter called Yankee Confab that explored topics of the day and the social aspects of living in New England. My college days were spent at the Colorado School of Mines and the University of Maine. Before retiring to write more, I owned and operated a niche real estate firm specializing in land acquisition and development.
I have been a traveler since my parents first introduced me to our National Park System and to the many natural and created wonders throughout our astounding country. I have been fortunate to visit landmarks in 47 of our 50 states, Puerto Rico, Canada, The Galapagos, most Caribbean Islands venues, Cuba, Peru, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Greece, Mexico, England, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Monaco, Italy, Indonesia, Bali, Algiers, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, and to have experienced the joys of sailing in New England throughout my life. It is from this kaleidoscope of experience that much of the content of Macom Farm, and its sequels, is based.
Tennis has always been my game. I currently live near Sarasota, Florida, with my wife, Elena.
